Privacy policy
What we collect when you book with us or visit this site, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
Dive In Ltd (company number 02589112), Gildenburgh Water, Eastrea Road, Whittlesey, Peterborough PE7 2AR, is responsible for your information. For anything about it, email pauline@divein.co.uk or call 01733 351288.
What we collect
When you book, online, by phone or in the shop:
- the name and date of birth of each person diving
- the name, email address and phone number of the person booking, and whether they are the parent or guardian of anyone under 18
- that you have read the medical requirements, where a course needs it
- what you paid, how and when, and any refund
At the centre, the forms you complete before training, including the diver medical questionnaire, and the record of your training.
Card details go to our payment provider, Dojo, and never reach us. We see that you paid and how much.
When you visit the site, Google Analytics, but only if you accept it. Our cookies page explains what it collects and lets you change your mind. The booking pages use Google reCAPTCHA to check that bookings come from people rather than automated programs, which looks at information about your browser and device.
Why we use it
- To take and run your booking
- Confirming it, emailing you about it, and telling you if anything changes. We need this to provide what you booked.
- To keep you safe
- Checking each diver's age against the course's minimum, and their medical questionnaire before they go in the water. Medical information is special category data: we use it only to decide whether it is safe for you to dive, with your explicit consent when you give it to us.
- To certify you
- Registering your certification with PADI, the training agency, and keeping a record of your training. This is in our legitimate interests and yours: divers often need proof of training years later.
- For our accounts
- Payment records, which the law requires us to keep.
- To protect the booking system
- reCAPTCHA stops anyone holding every place with automated bookings. This is in our legitimate interests.
- To improve the site
- Google Analytics, only with your consent.
We do not use your booking details to send you marketing, and we never sell your information.
Who we share it with
We use partners to provide the service: to run our booking system and this website, send our emails and take card payments. Each gets only what it needs to do that. Bookings are stored on servers in London.
When you complete a course, we register your certification with PADI, the training agency.
Some of our partners are based in the United States. Where your information leaves the UK, it is protected by the UK's data bridge with the US or by contract terms approved for that purpose.
How long we keep it
- Booking details for as long as we need them to run your course and answer questions about it afterwards.
- Payment records for six years, for our accounts.
- Training records for longer, because divers and the training agency come back to us for proof of training.
Children
Anyone under 18 must be booked by a parent or guardian, who gives us the details for them and can use the rights below on their behalf.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, stop or limit using it, or send it to you or someone else in a format a computer can read. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email or call us and we will reply within a month.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if what we do with your information changes.
